Qantu- Gran Blanco 70%
Qantu- Gran Blanco 70%
Description
Winner of a gold medal at the 2017 and 2018 editions of the Academy of Chocolate awards in London, this Gran Blanco 70% bar is surprisingly pale in color for a dark chocolate. Don't mistake it for a milk chocolate though! As its name states, Gran Blanco (grandiose white) is made using very fine flavor criollo beans from the La Quemazon region which are characterised by their whitesh color.
Tasting Notes: Intense aroma of honey and caramel that give way to an explosion of citrus fruit and passion fruit notes. This, surprisingly for a bar that only has 2 ingredients!
Ingredients
Cacao beans (La Quemazon, Piura, Peru) and cane sugar.
Awards
2018 Gold at Academy of Chocolate Awards (World)
2017 Gold at Academy of Chocolate Awards (World)
About the Maker
Symbol of unity and hospitality, Qantu is the national flower of Peru where the makers directly source all of their beans. Founded by Elfi and Max in 2016, Qantu fast became a shining star in the craft chocolate world with their 2 gold medals and one silver at their very first international competition in 2017. Every year, the couple travels back to Efli's homeland of Peru where they spend weeks visiting the farmers and their plantations. Thanks to their growing notoriety, Elfi and Max are supporting these communities and helping them gain access to markets that were inaccessible to them not long ago.
